Volunteer Drivers Needed
Jul/08/10 23:38 Filed in: View All Sowing Seeds News Update Here
As the summer residents move to town many Marshfield residents head out on vacation or seek a change in climate, leaving the town's volunteer base greatly diminished. The population of neighbors-in-need feels the impact greatest, as the least number of social services are available during summer months.
Our community has an urgent need for drivers to transport Marshfield residents to medical appointments in Boston. Please call (781) 837.3337 to volunteer. Your help is greatly appreciated. Many older, disabled or chronically ill Marshfield... residents are unable to receive the medical attention they need without the help of Sowing Seeds volunteers.
The Clothing Bank at Sowing Seeds also needs clothing for girls and boys clothing for sizes 2 through 6X, packaged new socks and underwear for men, women and children, and gift certificates to Marshalls and Payless Shoe . All clothing should be seasonal and in new or nearly new condition. Other area gift certificates would also be appreciated. Sowing Seeds, located on Rt. 139 at the corner of Plain and School Streets (in the former First Baptist Church), is open to distribute clothing and to accept donations on Thursday and Saturday mornings from 10:00 AM to 12 noon. Volunteers are needed for many Sowing Seeds services, including the Clothing Bank. Clothing Bank volunteers are asked to help for two hours, once per month.
If you are in need of other services provided by Sowing Seeds, or if you are able to volunteer your time, services or donate a vehicle (in very good mechanical condition), please also call to speak with a volunteer. Economic conditions have left a greater number of Marshfield residents in need of a helping hand
than ever before. Our local needs are still great. Please consider assisting however you can. Each year Sowing Seeds serves over 200 families; approximately 70% of those families have children who are assisted in addition to the adult members of their families.
Sowing Seeds is a 100% volunteer, ecumenical, outreach ministry that provides a broad range of services to Marshfield residents. It was founded by Marshfield volunteers and serves only Marshfield residents. It is not affiliated with any other national organization. Additional donations may be mailed to PO Box 1001, Marshfield, MA 02050. In addition to this website (www.sowingseedsofhope.net) updated information is available at Facebook's Sowing Seeds page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sowing-Seeds-in-Marshfield-Massachusetts/151491713718
